"Return to School" Government Grant Scholarship for Moms

The new US President, Barrack Obama, says that he's determined to make every part of our nation better as soon as possible. This includes health care and human rights activism, but Obama has taken a special interest in encouraging mothers to seek higher education through his Moms Return to School' Government Grant Scholarship Program.

Like all the recent Presidents Obama is supported by a hard working and intelligent First Lady, Michelle Obama, and appreciates the incredible impact females can make when they're able to acquire a college education. Obama also knows that many women either never had the opportunity to attend college or had to sacrifice that experience for what they felt was the greater good of their families.

Obama has passed bills increasing the amount aspiring students can receive from Federal Pell grants towards pursuing a college degree. These grants are available for low income individuals who otherwise would not be able to afford school. Pell grants can be used for any college the student chooses to attend, including accredited online universities.

Online educations can be especially convenient for mothers who cannot afford day care services or who would still rather raise their children themselves, or anyone who feels their classes would interfere with their job. Of course, mothers are not the only ones who can apply for Pell Grants. Obama has also encouraged fathers, drop outs, and high school graduates from low income families to take advantage of government scholarships as well. He believes all Americans are entitled to higher education.

Some people might be intimidated by the prospect of returning to school after a long absence and might not know where to begin. If this is the case they can always talk to a college advice specialist such as a counselor or academic planner about possible options. Most colleges offer these services free of charge to anyone considering attending school. Anyone unsure about what they should study can always start a liberal arts degree and choose a specialty later when they find out where their interests lay.

President Obama knows that a strong country is made of educated people working together towards their goals and that too many people are convinced that they either are not worthy of college or that it's too far out of reach to be a realistic goal. Hopefully the introduction of the Moms Return to School' Government Grant Scholarship Program will encourage people to take a chance and invest time in their own self improvement for the good of both themselves and their families.

Author: Jennifer Langston - Get your FREE!
How to Find Personal Government and Private Foundation Grants

Personal grants are available to families and individuals who need a little financial assistance in achieving their goals. Whether money is needed to buy a new home, start a business or pay off debt, there are a number of programs that can be applied for in order to get the cash you need.

Health grants, for example, can help those in need of financial assistance to pay for medical bills or regular health expenses. First time home buyer grants help those who are looking for help coming up with down payment funds on the purchase of their first new home.

While there are qualification requirements in applying for and receiving these funds, anyone over 18 years old can apply for government grant money. However, what many people don't realize is that personal grants are not just provided by the government. Grant money is also obtainable from private foundations that can also provide money to individuals, students, business owners and families that never have to be paid back.

Personal grants are different from loan because the funds that are awarded are provided tax-free, with no interest and no repayment terms. As long as the terms of the grants are followed and the money is used appropriately, the money will never have to be paid back.

By searching an up-to-date grant database, individuals can find personal grants that are currently available through government and private organizations. Access to these grant resources can help you be first in line to apply for these funds while submitting the best possible application.

Government Grants Help Single Mom's Return to College

Bad economic news may have you thinking that this is a bad time for single moms to return to the classroom, that simply is not the case. Women all over America are finding help through federal government programs such as educational grants and loans. Here are a few examples.

Pell Grant

These federal grants are being expanded for low income individuals. The maximum allowable Pell grant is $4,731. President Obama is working to increase it further by $500. The extended Pell Grant is one of the best single mother government grants for college.

Education Tax Credits

Single moms should also be aware of the educational tax credit. For example, The American Opportunity Tax Credit program has been designed to make sure that the first 2,500 of any individual's higher education is free. This program accepts the prior years tax return and requires 100 hours of community service in exchange for the advantage.

How do I get a Grant?

First, select the college or university that offers your target program, and then fill out a federal FAFSA form and submit it. Don't hesitate to check out scholarship and grant matching services, they can help you to make sure you apply for all the scholarships and grants available to you as a single mother.

Are There Grants for Me? I Don't Have Time for a Traditional Classroom

Don't worry! You can still get Pell Grants and many others types of grants and scholarships even if you cannot attend classes in a traditional setting. Online college programs are also included in the federal aid programs.

You may be surprised at how much money is out there for you. Not only that, more funds may be offered as time goes on. Keep your eyes open for news of scholarship and grant advances from the Obama administration, and by all means get out there and start applying for your targeted college program.

Government Debt Relief Grants: Too Good to Be True?

Despite the fantastic claims you may have seen in certain ads, the government does not in fact offer grants to people to pay off their debts. Unfortunately, what a lot of these ads are selling are bankruptcy services. Bankruptcy is under the purview of the government, but a government debt relief grant it is not.

The government may not offer grants to pay off debts, but they do handle bankruptcy matters. While not technically government debt relief grants, there are programs for people who need help with student loans or are facing foreclosure. These programs usually have very strict guidelines. The government can also forgive federal loans, but again, these are not government grants for debt relief .

The government recognizes that some people need bankruptcy in order to restart their lives, although the government does not recommend bankruptcy. The ads offering debt relief grants from the government may seem like your only solution, but really it's bankruptcy youre considering.

To protect creditors from those people who abuse bankruptcy laws, the government has recently tightened bankruptcy regulations. One of those regulations includes requiring anyone who claims bankruptcy to go through credit counseling first. Since there are no such things as debt relief grants from the government, entities advertising these are likely offering bankruptcy services.

Besides Chapter 7 bankruptcy, there is another option for people who are looking for debt relief. If you claim Chapter 13 bankruptcy, youll be required to make regular payments on your debts and have them paid within a certain amount of time. That is if you can afford the payment amount a court trustee assigns.

Both forms of bankruptcy may be confused as government grants for debt relief, but they really aren't. Anyone who files for Chapter 7 will be required to liquidate all their property in order to pay their debts. Individuals who file for Chapter 13, however, get to keep their encumbered properties so long as they meet their regular repayments.
